The Southeastern Christian Writers’ conference is offering a “First Impressions” book contest for attendees for any book published between 2017 and the present. Winners will be given a ribbon, and first-place winners will be given stickers that can be placed on the front of their books and additional prizes. Deadline for submission is July 1. We offer first and second place awards in the following genres/areas:
- Non-fiction
- Bible Study/Devotional
- Christian Living
- Fiction
- Young Adult
- Contemporary Christian
Guidelines:
Christian literature is defined as fiction or non-fiction written by an individual whose Christian world view is woven into the plot or information presented in the book. The book should not use offensive language or present a message contrary to the teaching of Scripture.
- Books will be evaluated only by the first fifteen pages.
- Page format – 81/2 x 11 inch format, 12 point font (Times New Roman) double-spaced with one-inch margins
- Include a cover page with the title and name of the author, but do not include your name on the other pages submitted. Please state the genre on the cover page.
- Please include a one-page, single-spaced synopsis.
- Fiction – In addition to the cover sheet and one-page synopsis, submit the first 15 pages (If your book has a prologue, include that within the first fifteen pages).
- Non-fiction – In addition to the cover sheet and one-page synopsis, include a one to two-page outline of your book along with the first fifteen pages.
